This picture shows Valantina Provonova (centre) visiting a pre school in the Winterbournes, near Salisbury. Anastasia Barsokova (GBG translator and Russian teacher) is on the right. Valantina and Anastasia were able to me come to the UK as a part of a school teacher exchange arranged by Karen Waters of the GBG.

I am the Deputy Head of Longfields primary school in Bicester. There are 240 pupils on roll. As part of our ECO week we asked Ann Jordan from the Great Bustard Group to give a talk on the re-introduction project. This linked with other work on re-introduction projects, endangered species and habitats.
We found the talk particularly interesting because the children had been learning about endangered species and habitats during ECO week and had looked at how Red Kites had been re-introduced near to our school.
We were also interested to learn how Great Bustards used to live on the downs in South Oxfordshire.
Following the talk the children were keen to ask questions and drew some pictures of Bustards. It was a very interesting talk which fitted in perfectly with the ECO week themes.
Many thanks,
Claire Rughoobeer

Mary and I spent the day there on 3rd September giving talks to all the children in the school – ages range from 4 – 11 yrs. The talks were done in three different stages so that we could target them at the ages of the children. The school has a Great Bustard as its logo.
